Alexander Gibson
Alexander is from Winchester in Great Britain. Besides school
and physics, he is actually quite artistic: Alexander enjoys
playing the trumpet, and on this camp he has continuously
entertained the others whit his humour and jokes. Mr. Gibson
is our only Englishman, but on the other side he is English
from top to toe. Every morning Mr. Gibson enjoys his cup
of tea, while quoting for example a famous English movie.
Emma de
Laval
Emma is: Swedish, 19 years old, smiling and sometimes juggling.
Emma is a very happy girl. She is a member of the Swedish
Association of Young Scientists, so she is involved in arranging
camps and meetings in Sweden. Emma is also a Capoeira-girl,
so when the others were playing football, Emma practised
walking on her hands. Emma surprised everyone when she knew
the most Monty Python songs of all the participants at this
camp!
Eryk Samolewicz
This camp's Swedish guy is from Stockholm. Together with
Emma he represents the yellow and blue colours on this camp.
He is very fond of science, and also quite interested in
computing. During this week Eryk has worked with electronics,
building a Geiger counter.
Christine
Lindstrøm
Christine decided to study astrophysics when she was only
six years old. She sat on her grandfather's lap and listened
to amazing stories about the stars and the planets. Therefore,
there was a great amount of enthusiasm from Christine when
we had lectures in telescopes. It turned out, she has excellent
knowledge on this subject, and she even gave a presentation
of one of the telescopes, which was exhibited. Christine
is a student in Sandefjord, a very sunny place in Norway,
so Cristine is definitely the most tanned person to stay
on Space Camp... ever.
Liv
Bente Larsen
Liv Bente lives in Narvik, which is, compared to the other
participants, just around the corner. She is very active
in sports, and she likes everything from riding to football.
This was quite obvious in our volleyball- and football sessions.
Liv Bente joined the electronics group during the group work,
so now she knows a lot about sonding and electric components.
This autumn she will start the 3. year of high school.
Paul Anthony
Wilson
Paul's interests reaches from photographing and astronomy
to acting and physics. Paul is from Sandvika in Norway, but
he will spend the next year in Austria. During Space Camp,
he was a part of the rocket calculation, and assembly-group,
B, which designed the rocket "Exploder". Paul is an amusing
guy, which has entertained the others with playing guitar.
Sarah
Lindqvist
Sarah is usually situated in Fjellstad, but she has spent
several years of her life in USA. One could easily be tricked
by her American accent. Her goal is to become a veterinary,
as she is very interested in animals, especially horses and
dogs. Due to her first class information about American culture,
she acted as a Ricki Lake - copy during our famous Hisnakul
evening.
Per
Christian Henden
Per grew up in Haugesund, but he is now a student at the
university of Trondheim, NTNU. This means that in about 5
years we will meet Per as an engineer in maths and physics.
Per knows a lot about computing, which is one of his main
interests, besides solving mathematical and physics problems.
Although, one thing seems too difficult for this bright boy,
and that is to sign the goodnight list which shows who has
gone to bed and who hasn't.
Cecilia
Smith Simonsen
With her Scottish accent, freckles and red hair, you could
easily suspect that this was an international participant.
But Cecilia actually lives in Tønsberg in Norway. She has
dedicated some of her spare time to the art of handball,
which results in excellent skills in the well known volleyball
games we have been playing at the camp. Cecilia showed us
her artistic talents when her group performed a parody of
all the strange American laws at Hisnakul.
Espen
Oyslebo
Espen is the closest we got to an American participant this
year, as he lives in Washington, D.C. During this camp Espen
has tributed with his skills in athletics, and some of us
may have learnt a few new rules in volleyball. Espen has
worked with telemetry: satellite- and rocket-tracking.
Wenche
Iren Frøystad
Wenche is from Ulsteinvik, but like many of the other participants
on the camp, she has an international background. She spent
a year in USA as an exchange student. Wenche is an eager
writer, and she writes some articles for the local newspaper.
Who knows, maybe Space Camp even gets mentioned in "The Ulsteinvik
Post".?
Søren
Vendelbo
One of the Danish participants, more precisely from Allerød
in Denmark. He has a great interest for math and science,
but he also likes playing chess and the piano. During the
groups sketch - session on Hisnakul, Søren made an excellent
performance playing Boris Yeltzin.
Kristin
Karthum Hansen
Kristin just graduated from Nesbru high school, International
Baccalaureate. She lives in Bekkestua, which is just outside
Oslo. After Space Camp she will attend the University of
Oslo ExPhil program in Bali. Kristin is always smiling, especially
when she is eating the famous waffles at the Rocket Range.
Vegard
Aas
This guy comes from Ridabu, nearby Hamar. During this week,
he has spent many hours in front of his computer, making
fancy effects for the presentation of the group work, and
also for Space Camp's web-pages. (You can check this out
in the diary.). Vegard has great interest, skills and knowledge
in computers. He will spend the next year in Bardufoss, where
he perhaps will run around in green military clothes.
Christine
Elisabeth Klei
The German participant! Christine. Like the rest of this
group, she likes maths and physics. But unlike the others,
she is very fond of ballroom dancing and Latin-American dancing.
One must admit that this year's participants are very artistic!
Katrine
Rude Laub
The last of the three Danish people here at the camp. Katrine
is planning to study physics when she finishes gymnasium.
Besides science, she likes outdoor activities, like for example
kayaking, trekking and skiing. Katrine is a member of UNF
in Denmark, which is the same as FUF in Norway and Sweden.
Søren
Boldsen
This mathematical comet comes from Århus in Denmark. He has
been on the national team in mathematics, so one could safely
say that Søren likes equations and geometry. Maybe it is
this interest that makes him good at playing pool.? This
week, he joined the electronic group, so hopefully can return
to Denmark and build his own FM receiver.!
Magdalena
Dessoulavy
Dancing queen at Space Camp 2001! Magda is from Sortland.
On her spare time, she teaches kids dancing, like funk and
hip-hop. Her other great interest is computing. She has even
been to the Gathering three times a row! Not bad at all for
a dancing girl from the north of Norway!
Astrid
Kornberg Bjørke
Astrid is from Hamar. She joined Space Camp to meet Christine
Klei (the German girl) who she met as an exchange student
in USA. It is likely to presume that Astrid is the most eager
participant to go bathing. It doesn't matter if it is morning
or in the middle of the night. Astrid is always prepared
to join the very, very cold water up here. When the water
is cold, it is nice with some time in the sauna afterwards.
Karianne
Sagberg
Karianne is originally from Nærsnes, but she will move to
Trondheim to study medicine this autumn. When the weather
failed on Andøya, and the rain poured down, we turned to
Karianne. Always a smile! Although she sometimes gets crazy
ideas, like to go swimming when everybody is supposed to
go to bed. But Karianne is a nice girl, who sometimes likes
to snap logos from military jackets.
Michael
Huy Le
This 19 years old Stavanger boy came to Space Camp because
he won a price in the Young Scientist Contest. But that doesn't
mean that his interest in science and rockets are less than
with the rest of the participants. Michel is an enthusiastic,
but perhaps a slightly whimsy person.
Stefan
Schloemilch
This boy from Oslo has spent 13 years of his life in Germany.
He has a passion for space related subjects. Who knows, perhaps
he will become the first Norwegian to enter space.? Stefan
likes to play games with the rest of us. Like for example:
To jump up from behind and scream. He is Space Camp nr.1
"bad boy". |
